Q. Welcome to u1 gallery. We are so grateful to be able to interview you. We can never thank you enough. Could you introduce yourself and your works? How did you begin creating art?
A.My parents gave me the name Samo and immediately changed my name to Michal, and that's what I am to this day. I walk around this world and gradually get to know it, it's an endless process. On the walls of the parents' house hung the artworks of famous artists. This environment shaped me. As every child imitates its parents, it was the same with me. My father used to go to his studio to create and it was a great experience for me when he took me with him. He always told me that the most important thing is the thought.

Q. Could you describe one artwork or series from your oeuvre that you feel it was pivotal in your career?
A. I don't have a specific artwork, the most important thing for me is the feeling of creation. Without him, the creation itself has no meaning for me. Strong moments were the artworks from the cycles Paper world and Ballet girls. I transform ordinary paper and characters, the paper from which I create a dream world is crumpled, like life's paths.
Q. Could you talk about the process of creating and the way of expressing your work?
A. As I mentioned before, the most important thing for me is the feeling. In order to create an artwork, I have to get rid of my ordinary life, close myself into my inner world, achieve isolation. It is a form of meditation. In this state a large number of thoughts follow me and it is only matters to me which I materialize. The form itself is not important to me, what is important is the idea of the artwork.

Q. Where do you get the inspiration for your work?
A. Strong moments in my life leave traces and I create a path from them. This path is lined with ideas. When I walk on it, it's like a fragrant garden full of colors and shapes.

Q. What do you hope that the audience takes away from your art?
A. It is not important to me how many viewers react to my artworks. Art is an added value of life in today's society. I believe that my artworks provide space for the viewer to reflect on his life and, last but not least, helps him to be a better person.
Q. What is your dream project? Could you tell us your plans and aspirations as an artist?
A.A dream project is a lifelong creation. I want to continue what I started with that feeling I mentioned. I wish that my artworks make the world a better place.
